Recognition via the Green Brands quality mark

In November 2017, we were awarded the GREEN BRANDS quality seal for the second time by the independent organisation GREEN BRANDS. Being awarded the 'GREEN BRANDS 2017/2018' quality mark underlines our long-standing commitment to all things 'green'. We are delighted to be honoured in this way and also see it as an incentive to abide consistently, in future too, by our ecological philosophy of producing products from natural ingredients.

This mark is awarded when businesses respond – via their product and brand philosophy – to consumers' growing awareness of the need for greater sustainability, environmental protection, and a healthy lifestyle. GREEN BRANDS is a unique way therefore of recognising businesses which are committed to climate protection, sustainability, and ecological responsibility.

Long-standing participation in the Bavarian Environmental Pact

We were also honoured by Bavaria's State Ministry for Health and the Environment in 2012 for our dedicated commitment, in terms of cooperative environmental protection, during our long-standing participation in the Bavarian Environmental Pact for the Upper Franconia region.

The Bavarian Environmental Pact is an agreement between the state government of Bavaria and the Bavarian business community. The Pact is driven by an unshakeable desire to protect the natural basics of life. The objective is to improve basic ecological, economic, and social conditions for those living in Bavaria today and for future generations too.

Recognition with the E.ON Bavaria Environment Prize for 2009

We were especially pleased to be awarded the E.ON Bavaria Environment Prize for 2009 for the novel heating system we had developed for bottle-cleaning equipment. Thanks to our process, we can clean reusable bottles far more efficiently, compared with conventional technologies.

The E.ON Bavaria Environment Prize has been awarded since 2005 and is one of Germany's most valuable prizes for ecologically sound practices. The focus is on reducing primary energy consumption, cutting pollution levels, protecting natural resources, and ecologically conscious construction. An independent jury rates the projects and chooses the prizewinners.

Voluntary audit

In addition to the activities listed already, we also participate on a voluntary basis in an annual environmental management and environmental audit initiative run by the European Community. With this 'Eco-Management and Audit Scheme', or EMAS for short, the first step is to define environmental objectives for the business that go beyond the statutory requirements in this area and come up with appropriate measures to substantiate these. Implementation and an appraisal of any positive impact on the objective (of the measures taken) are reviewed, evaluated, and certified as required, a year later by environmental experts from a TÜV (German businesses that provide inspection and product certification services). For example, we have set ourselves the objective, as part of this audit, of reducing specific power demand steadily across the whole of our operations. And by replacing old fluorescent tubes with energy-efficient LED lighting, we are getting closer to achieving this goal. We believe this is all about adopting an active approach to protecting the environment and saving resources. The certifications we have been awarded are available for you to inspect.
